One New Nose

The Nose is fixed! And, the doctor assures me, it is now better than before.

This statement may be more than mere hyperbole. GirlChild had an epic fall when she was around 4 years old. Epic in terms of screams and quantity of blood: she tripped on a sidewalk and landed on her nose. Poor squirt. It was the one and only time I heard her cry like that, and we rushed her to the doctor, but he didn't really think it was broken, and it looked straight still, so we comforted her and the bleeding stopped and that was that, until this week.

The doctor said it may have been broken all those years ago, because it was a bit smushed on the inside. There may have been some technical language in there, whatever, but that was the gist of it. He fixed it, and seemed pleased with his own work, but wants her to spend the night. She has, he tells me, a splint.

Poor squirt.

So one night in the hospital, and then it's home to frozen peas and bendy straws and soup, and no funny movies.
