Sweet The Morning Air Of April

I walked through the Quad on my way to the gym this morning. The magnolia trees are blooming, the spring bulbs are flowering. In the early-morning stillness, the scent of the hyacinths floated through the air.

The law school needs magnolia trees. Right now all it has are big honey locusts, which are not exactly imposing (in which case I would be in their favor) and do nothing for the icy architecture, so they're the worst of both worlds. Low-growing, twisty magnolias would look charming and play up the building's exotic aspects (it does have a few).

Sometimes I remember that I am a gardener.

They should hire you as a gardening consultant. The people they use don't seem to be very good, you could leave a beautiful mark on the school, and it would give you some extra money over the summer :)

We could sure use your insights too. We did remove six black walnut trees, move a butterfly bush, spread out some iris bulbs, moved hostas to shadier areas, and other basics.
We would like to plant a (some) Princeton Elm, for their majestic shade. They can be shipped UPS from NJ!

We moved some oak, poplar, and hickory trees from a friend's lot to our back field and they seem like they will live!

Well, it is fun, but a lot of work to garden. Some of our beds are just a mess too.
