Sometimes people exhibit a shocking lack of fashion sense, not to mention respect for fine design or other people's sensibilities.
This young woman was wearing carrying a lovely quilted Chanel bag in a camel color that picked up some of the tones in her short fur jacket -- so far, so good. She was wearing rather forgettable black slacks with it, which could have been forgivable. But.
She was wearing sneakers. Sneakers! Not even black ones! (Which, make no mistake, still would have been utterly unacceptable.)
You don't carry that bag while wearing sneakers. It just doesn't work, and I'm not even really a true bag fan.
And all she would have needed was a decent pair of sleek pumps to make the whole outfit sing.
I'm a boy (and a straight one at that), but I'd have to agree. That's just weird.
Chanel bag + sneakers = incomprehensible.

Style in the West is a completely different creature than style in the East. That outfit sounds awful, but female western clothes in general don't have the grace and dignity of some of the saris and other outfits I've seen out here (unless its some truly expensive designers). The colors are spectacular, for starters, and you rarely see a scandalous outfit, let alone one that is hard on the eyes.. unless its another tourist who forgot to dress appropriately. Alas.

Was this during commuting time? She may have had her pumps in her bag, or under her desk, for wear once she got indoors. It is the only way to keep expensive shoes looking fantastic--don't wear them on the concrete.
