I used to have a yarn swift, and I left it behind when we moved. TFL isn't thrilled to hold yarn while I wind it, although he'll do it when ask. Last night, though, he was snoozing and I really wanted to wind my new yarn, so I made do. The back of one chair worked for the cream-colored skein, but the green one was larger so I had to rope in (er, sorry) a second chair with a convenient knob. Then I realized that I got a much better angle if I held my arms up and pulled the yarn up off the chairs, so I hopped up and stood on one of them. Voila!
Isn't it a spring-like batch of colors? Please ignore, kind readers, the messiness of the winding job. Here's the cream yarn with improvised nostepinne --
It turns out a small Maglite works just fine, makes a good center-pull ball.
In other news: work is interfering with my knitting time-table. GirlChild is coming home this weekend, yay. I haven't heard from Boy in weeks, he's probably too busy teaching English to cute French girls with cute French accents. And I am more than usually grateful for my children's continued good health, as TFL's dear nephew was hit by a car last week and suffered fairly serious injuries. I think he's out of danger now but it's going to be a long recovery, poor thing.
Maybe learning to knit would be good therapy for his arm, when he's ready?
Oh NO! We are so sorry to hear about the nephew's accident. Very glad to hear he will eventually be ok. Prayers going up.

It would probably be a good strengthening exercise with his arms up in the air...I'll let you ask him!

What's a "nostepinne"?

May is slipping by steadily, and yet I still see no 'M' posts....
