Happy Independence Day, everyone. I hope you are enjoying your cookouts and fireworks and family get-togethers.
Somewhere in there, perhaps between the hot dogs and ice cream, consider following a great suggestion and reading the Declaration of Independence, preferably aloud. Maybe get the kids to read it in turns, or get Grandpa to read it in his best voice.
The Constitution is all well and good, but a late arrival and a product of compromise. The Declaration of Independence is our genesis, and it's good to be reminded where our roots lie. If you are an American, read, and enjoy, and be proud. If you are not an American, read, enjoy, and marvel at the changes this one document wrought in the course of history.
Love this and I have a new tradition. Happy Fourth to you and yours!
