It's worse than St. Patrick's Day or any of the others--the Puerto Rico Parade is a nightmare. It ties up Fifth Ave for a 14 hours (okay, 6, but that's a CRAZY-LONG parade, people!!) and the crowds are bigger than any other crowd for any other event anywhere in the city all year, with the possible exception of Times Square on New Year's Eve.
I had to take two significant detours just to get to my office, and that's ridiculous.
I would feel much more positive about it if they handed out food. Give me a plate of authentic rice and beans and you can run all the parade nonsense you like.
Yeah, the Puerto Rico parade in Chicago is similarly insane. Then again, up near my neighborhood, practically every nice day of the summer is the Puerto Rico parade. Flags everywhere, people milling around. Its crazy.
