It didn't. Don't worry.
But it's American Idol! My bad tv kryptonite!
And there's this other thing. I have this nephew. Wait, let me back up. I have a father (yes, it's true, I didn't simply spring into being from the ether) with a spectacular voice. Warm, rich, powerful, expressive, and it floats perfectly on the pitch. And out of his 21 grandchildren, I think only my nephew inherited--perhaps--his voice.
It'll take another year or two to see where it really goes, but early signs are promising.
Naturally, I think this good-looking kid should try out for AI like every other red-blooded American kid who thinks they can sing. But I have a few (million) opinions to share first. And these opinions are based on growing up with a wide variety of music, mainly, and also spending too much time thinking about what does and doesn't work for AI candidates.
Therefore, I'm going to start posting again, annoying friends and relatives with AI reviews (tortuous) and thoughts on various music forms and artists. Preview of some upcoming post topics: phrasing, groove, artists you MUST know, and when a Broadway song becomes acceptable (hint: almost never).
There you go. You have been warned!
In other news: knee still messed up, physical therapy torture has started, surgery will probably be in a few weeks.
It's illuminative to observe what others enjoy observing because it does illustrate an aspect of their multi-faceted character.
I'll keep your surgery and discomfort on my prayer list.

Excellent! All this time and I never knew! Yes, I agree on the generalities. love the new judges, Harry's right on the licks - cut it out singers, we are not impressed! I do like the overall nicer tone of the show, and the emphasis on talent instead of kooks who are tone deaf. But I'm a very casual viewer compared to you apparently. We make our snarky comments while watching but I don't really follow the contestants until they narrow it down. So, I'll be following but rarely commenting on your AI critiques.
